... The techniques in the course definitely helped ... I was super present and even able to enjoy pushing! It was overall a positive experience :) ...
The birth was incredible

We learned a lot in just one day time
What a lovely Sunday we had with Colette. I booked us a hypnobirthing course as I am really interested in those methods and I was not dissapointed. We learnt a lot in just one day time. It was fun and very educative. Would definitely recommend her further and the course itself also, if you are not sure if its worth it, it really really is :). Colette thank you so much for everything, we both enjoyed it with my man :). Aneta
About me
I’m Colette, founder of Hypnosepraktijk Wijnegem. I was born in 1980 in Germany; love brought me to Belgium. Today I live with my partner in Wijnegem, where our children, Leon and Louise, were born in 2015 and 2019.
I’ve been working as a hypnotherapist in private practice since 2012. I completed more than 500 hours of training and supervision at the Zentrum für Angewandte Hypnose in Mainz.
When I was pregnant with my first child, I wanted to prepare for birth more consciously and with greater personal agency. Together with my partner I followed MuchaMama® HypnoBirthing in Utrecht. The approach matched my work perfectly: practical, body-based and mentally strengthening. Both births were loving and calm (the second considerably faster), experiences that have shaped the way I work.
In 2017 I became a certified Mucha Mama® HypnoBirthing instructor; since then, as one of the first in Belgium, I’ve been teaching birth-preparation courses with hypnosis on a regular basis.
What I am and what I’m not
I’m not a midwife or an OB-GYN; I guide the preparation, not the birth itself. My expertise is hypnosis and mental training. My style is warm, down-to-earth and respectful of your choices. I work in alignment with your care team (midwife/OB-GYN) and provide clear explanations, targeted practice and a realistic plan that fits you. The goal: to approach your birth with more calm, agency and confidence - at home or in hospital - and to shape your birth experience yourself.

FAQ HypnoBirthing Course
What is HypnoBirthing? HypnoBirthing is a down-to-earth, evidence-informed way to prepare for birth—mentally and physically. You use (self-)hypnosis, breathing and relaxation to calm your nervous system, influence how you experience pain, and direct your attention. It does not replace medical care; it complements it—at home or in hospital, with or without pain relief. Three core pillars Regulation. With breath and (self-)hypnosis you intentionally shift from stress to calm. This improves mind–body cooperation and helps your uterus work more efficiently. Focus & mindset. You move your attention from fear to steadiness using short anchors (a word, image or touch). You build a realistic, positive expectation, which helps you make calmer choices. Birthing as a team. Your partner has a concrete role (positions, words, timing) and you learn to coordinate clearly with your care team. That way you keep a sense of agency in every scenario—including induction or a C-section. In the course you’ll get clear, accessible theory, practical exercises you can feel right away, and materials for home practice (audios, videos, worksheets). The goal: move toward birth with more calm, agency and confidence, and actively shape your own birth experience. (HypnoBirthing is not a medical treatment. We work alongside your midwife/OB-GYN and coordinate where needed.)
Will HypnoBirthing still help if I choose an epidural or if things turn medical? Yes. You’ll learn to calm your nervous system, steer your attention and communicate clearly with your care team. These tools help in any birth — with or without pain relief, at home or in hospital.
What about induction, breech or a planned C-section? If this applies to you, you’ll get scenario-specific preparation on top of the tools from the workshop (which are highly adaptable when things go differently than expected): a clear step-by-step plan, a targeted hypnosis audio, and my personal guidance—to increase calm, confidence and a positive experience within a medical pathway.
How do we involve my partner if they feel unsure (or have little time)? I walk you both through a simple, phase-by-phase approach (what to say, how to touch, when to do what) that’s easy to follow—even if breathwork or meditation is new. You’ll also get a practice table to stay on track and deepen what you learned after the workshop. Every technique is practical and doable in minutes, so it works even with a busy schedule.
Is hypnosis woo-woo? Will I lose control? No. Hypnosis is a focused state (like being absorbed in music). You stay conscious and in control. Our approach is practical and down-to-earth.
What if hypnosis ‘doesn’t work’ for me? We build multiple entry points: breath, sensory anchors, wording and body tools. You always have alternatives — you don’t need to be “highly hypnotisable” to benefit.
I’m late in pregnancy - is it still useful? Yes. A private course is flexibly scheduled; I’ll do my best to find a last-minute slot so you can still come. Even with little time, you’ll learn 2–3 core anchors and clarify your partner’s role. And if there’s not much time to practise afterward, you’ll still leave well prepared: the hands-on exercises in the workshop are practical and easy to recall during labour. We prioritise what has the biggest impact before your due date.
Can the private course be in English and partly online? Yes. NL or EN, in Wijnegem, at your home or online (±15 km included; beyond on request). See “Practical” for planning/fees.
Expecting twins or have a medical particularity - is this a fit? Usually yes. We tailor tools and planning to your situation and coordinate with your care team. If there are specific contraindications, we discuss alternatives.
After the course, how do I keep using the tools? You’ll get 5 audios (3 voices), 4 short videos, an e-book and a workbook. We agree on a realistic practice plan so it sticks.
(For pricing, dates, payment/rescheduling, see “Practical” and enrolment.)
